There are several competitions held throughout the season and we encourage our athletes to participate in them. We also encourage parents and guardians to lend a hand whenever they can.

 

Arthur Cup

Rules

All Races are Heats only, all times will be taken, and placing’s will be taken on times.

A club may enter more than 2 athletes in each event in each age group but points will be given on only the first 2 athletes of that club in each event.

Correct Club Uniforms, Age Patches and for Senior Athletes Canterbury Registration Numbers must be worn.

Competitors will be allowed one trial, then three measured throws or jumps.

ALL Events run under athletics N Z and Canterbury Inter-Club Rules unless qualified.

Club Secretaries will be contacted if meeting is cancelled.

Competitors may only compete in their own Age Group, except for Relays, where they may go up a Grade.

Starting Blocks:  Athletics New Zealand Rules

For races from 60m to 400m all competitors must use a crouch start.

Starting Blocks must be used by competitors wearing spike shoes.

Crouch starts with spiked shoes without blocks WILL NOT BE ALLOWED

For 800m, 1500m, a standing start will be used.

RELAYS

Only Registered Athletes can compete – 1 team per Club, per Grade in the Relays

Points Points are for Junior Age Group only. Only 2 Junior athletes per club will be allocated points

Mid South Athletics Friday Night Competition Registration  

To register for the Mid South Competition, click here to access the competition registration site.  This will be live every Sunday night the week before the competition, entry will close the Wednesday night before Friday competition, no late entries will be accepted.

Attendance requires parent help at that event, which includes set up of the event and running of the event our club is rostered onto.  Toilet cleaning at the conclusion of the event is also required as of 2024 season if rostered on.  It's a fantastic opportunity for families to get involved and support our young athletes.
